Flamenco Macbeth is an adaptation of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Written by Santa Monica College theater arts department chair Perviz Sawoski, the production features the dramatic tapping of flamenco rhythms, the sensational opulence of Dolce & Gabbanaesque neo-rococo costumes, and the intimacy of a 100-seat thrust stage. Sawoski’s staging has actors dancing in the vomitoriums and giving the audience a surround experience of Shakespeare’s tragic tale. The play is performed on SMC’s more intimate Studio Stage. The production stars Ángel Ádan Salas as Macbeth, and Julia Michelle as Lady Macbeth.
